GoHip - This %^&* program plugs itself in as your home page, puts a banner across the bottom of your browser every time you open it, AND "pop-up" ads keep coming up, AND it sticks a bunch of favorites, that aren't your favorites, in your favorites.  Click on GoHip to get rid of it!

Defrag:

Running Defrag is something you should consider periodic maintenance for your hard drive.  It should be done at least monthly.  What it does is reorganize all the files that get scattered all over your hard drive from normal use, and speed up your system.

To Run Defrag:

START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>DEFRAGMENTING.  That should do it, but just in case...Sometimes Defrag gets part way through and then restarts itself, because something else is running. All programs should be closed. Make sure that if you have a screen saver, that it is turned off. "Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display, Screen Saver, None." If defrag still keeps starting over - try this nifty little program before starting to defrag. It's called End-It-All. Gotta love the name. It lists all the programs you have running in the background. You click on "End-It-All" and it "End Tasks" everything except Exploring and Systray (which need to keep running), or any other program you "Mark". (I use this freeware all the time when I'm loading new software. It's not a must, but it's a good safety precaution.) Now Defrag should run fine. Also, be aware that if you've never run Defrag before, it could take hours!
